Sahl Hasheesh is a planned resort bay on the Red Sea just south of Hurghada: a long sandy coastline, clear water and reefs offshore, with a seafront promenade linking resorts, residential compounds and the Old Town square.
It is calmer and more spacious than central Hurghada, which makes it popular with families, couples and long-stay guests. Many apartments are in compounds with shared pools and beach access.
Where to stay in Sahl Hasheesh
Apartments and villas are spread along the bay, mostly in gated compounds with pools and gardens, many with sea views. Staying near the promenade or the Old Town puts cafés and restaurants within walking distance.
Ask your host whether beach access is included and how far the beach is on foot, since it varies from compound to compound.
What to do
The sea is the main attraction: swimming, snorkelling over the reefs and boat trips for diving. The promenade is the place for an evening walk, and the Old Town square has cafés and restaurants.
Hurghada is a short drive north for its marina, restaurants and boat trips to the Giftun islands.
When to go
Like Hurghada, Sahl Hasheesh is sunny all year: warm winters for long stays, and hot summers with the warmest water. Eid holidays and the New Year period are the busiest.
Getting there
Hurghada International Airport is roughly a 20 to 30 minute drive away. A car or a taxi is the easiest way to get around, as the bay is spread out.
